2010 April 15th - Break on the Border opens at the Anchor, Stratford St Mary

Admission was free, and a hat passed around. The bands played for nothing (except some free chips!).

A comment heard at the bar: "a triumph".

2010 May 20th - Second evening...

  • Crumbs For Comfort - East Anglia's answer to Mumford & Sons
     
  • The South Street Band - Bluesy Americana
     
  • Dragonfly - Deep, thoughtful acoustic songs on guitar and fiddle
     
  • Hazey Maizey - Stripped down country-blues

Admission still free; the "pay us what you feel like" hat raised as much as April's opener, with all the money going to Crumbs For Comfort. The rest of the bands played for chips.

Crumbs For Comfort did a Kylie cover; Hazey Maizey were complimented on their dancing...(!)

  • This Boy Wonders - "a John Butler influenced sound fronted by East Anglia's most distinctive vocalist"

    This month's headliners are This Boy Wonders who are the best sounding local band we've heard for sometime.  Their music doesn't fit neatly into any particular category but you might catch shades of The John Butler Trio, Ben Harper or Eagle Eye Cherry in it.  Their EP has been on repeat in the car but take a listen for yourself at http://www.myspace.com/thisboywonders.

This was house band Hazey Maizey's bassist Charlie Stannett's last appearance with the band at Break on the Border before retiring from the line-up at the end of 2010.
